Was brought to the U.S. … Read more Elegant Japanese 4-panel painted Byobu (folding screen) "Pheasant and Sakura". Signed and sealed by artist. Was brought to the U.S. in 1964 by a US military staff stationed in Japan after WWII. Watercolor, gouache and ink on paper. Silk border. Painted brown wood frame with engraved copper corners, plaques and medallions, showing some age patina. Paper on back. Japan, Showa Era, pre-1964, circa 1950s-1964. Very Good condition - minor age wear overall, two very small not noticeable repairs on the third panel (images #13 and #14), small repairs on back, strong hinges, clean, sturdy. This screen had one owner in the past.
