Beautiful Japanese 4-panel painted silk Byobu (folding screen) "Old Pine Tree". Signed and sealed by artist. This byobu was brought to the U.S. in 1964 by a US military staff stationed in Japan after WWII. Watercolor, gouache and ink on silk over paper. Silk border. Painted brown wood frame with engraved copper corners showing some age patina. Paper on back. Japan, Showa Era, pre-1964. Very Good condition - no damage to the painting, minor age wear overall, minimal staining, few small repairs on back, some scratches on the wood frame, strong hinges, clean, sturdy. This screen had one owner in the past, and most likely was in storage for decades.
