A beautifully crafted pair of antique Chinese carved jade bookends, each featuring an oval pierced jade panel mounted in ornate brass floral bases. The jade—likely nephrite—shows soft translucence and hand‑carved detailing, depicting a robed scholar figure among foliage, a classic symbol of learning, harmony, and cultivated life in Chinese decorative arts.
The openwork carving gives the panels depth and delicacy, while the embossed brass bases add warmth, texture, and visual grounding. Together, they create a refined balance of lightness and solidity. These bookends display beautifully on a bookshelf, console, or desk and bring an elegant, collected feel to any interior.
A wonderful choice for collectors of Asian antiques, scholar’s objects, or early 20th‑century decorative arts, and a striking accent for both traditional and modern spaces.

Jade panels are intact with no visible cracks or repairs. Natural inclusions and subtle surface variations are typical of hand‑carved jade. Brass bases show gentle patina and minor oxidation that enhance their antique character. Both bookends stand evenly and are stable. less
