Dated to the late 19th century, the small drum is an antique example of the traditional seating used in a classic Chinese garden.

A variation on the typical barrel shape, the stool has a squared design with bowed sides decorated in relief with flowers and fu lion handles. The brightly colored glaze streaks down the sides with irregular movement, finished with a glossy sheen and an allover crackle. Minor splits and imperfections due to firing add character to the surface, a testament to the vintage stool's age and use.

Restoration to hairline crack on one side.
