A charming armchair with a salt chest, crafted entirely from solid wood and fully pegged. The backrest is carved with a diamond pattern. The solid wood armrests are also pegged. The seat conceals a salt chest
under two removable shelves.
In the past, in French country houses, this type of armchair, known as a "grandfather's throne," was placed inside the fireplace itself to dry the salt stored in the chest.
