The story of this piece is almost perfect material for a hollywood script. The armchair is a unique work in the history of polish and global design, yet it remained forgotten for half a century. Only in 2012 was it brought back to the public consciousness and first put into production. Roman modzelewski's rm58 armchair is proof that good design stands the test of time.
the armchair was designed by roman modzelewski, known primarily as an artist, painter, and lecturer. Modzelewski was born in lithuania, educated in warsaw, and lived and worked in łódź. He was an exceptionally versatile artist; in addition to painting, he also worked in sculpture, decorative arts, jewelry design, furniture design, and yacht construction.
