Large Baroque sacristy cabinet from the late 18th century. West Germany/Rhineland. Crafted from solid oak.
A dismantlable oak body, standing on block feet, with moulded sides and coffered panels, featuring bevelled corners and a front divided architecturally by four pilasters. Above the tall plinth with 3 large drawers are 2 doors in a frame construction, as well as 3 small ‘doors’ arranged one above the other. The top is finished with a projecting, multi-moulded and cranked cornice. All doors are hung on hand-forged iron hinges.
Inside there are shelves.
Iron fittings added at a later date complete the piece.

Ready for use, with slight age-related signs of wear, including old woodworm tunnels (not active!) and various visible repairs and additions from over 200 years of existence. The surface has been stripped of its dark finish and carefully sanded, without sealing, allowing the beautiful texture of the old oak to appear naturally matt.
The cabinet can be dismantled into several parts for transport (base with drawers, 2 side panels, 2 doors, 1 front with 3 small doors, 1 vertical panel, back panel frame and panels, interior fittings and cornice) and reassembled using wooden dowels and dowel pins, as well as 4 metal wedge joints.
