A scarce antique W. Adams & Co. Fairy Villas Flow Blue covered serving dish produced in Staffordshire, England during the late Victorian period. Rendered in the highly collectible Fairy Villas pattern, this elegant covered form features romanticized chinoiserie landscapes with pagodas, waterways, florals, and architectural elements in rich cobalt blue.
Marked Fairy Villas, W. Adams & Co., England, this example dates to the post-1891 period when country-of-origin markings became required on exports to the United States. Covered forms are increasingly difficult to locate and remain highly sought after by collectors of Victorian Flow Blue, English transferware, and antique ironstone.
