A delicate mid-century landscape that captures a pared-back scene defined by restraint and atmosphere, executed in oil onto canvas.

Two slender trees rise gently from an open, muted expanse, their forms softened and slightly blurred as though caught in a passing breeze or remembered at a distance. Behind them, a low, undulating horizon stretches quietly across the composition, anchoring the scene with a subtle sense of depth.

The artist has used a minimal, almost abstracted approach: foreground and background dissolve into one another through thin washes and softly layered tones. The palette is beautifully subdued, composed of warm taupes, soft greys, and pale stone hues, punctuated by a sweep of dark blue along the distant ridge. This restrained colour story enhances the painting’s calm, meditative quality.

Brushwork is loose and expressive, with feathery, gestural strokes defining the foliage and more fluid, diluted applications across the ground. The surface reveals moments of transparency where the canvas breathes through, adding to the sense of lightness and quiet openness.
