A striking modernist coastal landscape captures a harbour scene rendered through simplified architectural forms and broad planes of colour, executed in oil onto board and dated 1971.

Fishing boats rest calmly along the water’s edge, framed by buildings and sheds that sit beneath a pale, expansive sky. The composition balances structure and stillness beautifully, evoking the peaceful rhythm of a seaside port at rest.

Executed in a distinctly modernist style, the painting leans into geometric abstraction while retaining a strong sense of place. The buildings are reduced into angular blocks and softened silhouettes, giving the scene a calm atmosphere.

The palette is wonderfully soft yet vibrant, featuring dusty coral pinks, muted lilacs, pale blues, teal greens, mustard tones, and deep navy accents. These colours reflect gently across the water, creating a serene interplay of light and shadow throughout the composition.
