Hand-forged from substantial copper, a material historically valued throughout Central Africa as both a symbol of wealth and a medium of exchange. Pieces such as this functioned as prestige currency and were used in important social transactions including bridewealth exchanges, ceremonial gifts, and displays of status within the community.
