This banded and lidded box or container is … Read more Antique storage box from the late Qing Dynasty, China, late 19th Century. This banded and lidded box or container is topped with a very detailed foo lion or fu dog, hand carved with remains of the old gilt visible. The little cub can be seen just in front of the mother. She sits atop a very heavy solid wood lid that rests on the simple banded body. There is a very old chop/hallmark on the underside of the lid. On the body two of the bands are in place, one is missing and does not detract from the piece.
A beautiful and old display container.
