This Stunning, One-of-a-Kind Creation was inspired by the undulating desert sandstone slot canyons and Hoodoo pedestal formations of Southern Utah. It is constructed entirely from Sustainably Harvested Solid Walnut milled from salvaged timber, and came to life through a material and labor intensive process called slab lamination through which dozens of distinct, individual layers of wood are milled, cut and carefully arranged before being glued/laminated together, then carved and shaped by hand to create truly unique and moving sculptural design.

The materials used are a combination of Black Walnut that came from a locally salvaged storm fallen tree in Santa Cruz County that is featured in the darker layers of the base, and English Walnut that was salvaged orchard tree that had to be removed a farm along the Central California Coast due to disease. The table's entire top and the bottommost layer of the base were fashioned out of the lighter English Walnut to create beautiful subtle bookend contrast with the Black Walnut that emulates the magnificent stone formations that inspired its design.

The grain in the top has to be seen in person to fully experience the effects of its multifaceted quilting, flame, and swirling figured patterns that altogether combined are reminiscent of a settling pint of Guinness beer. Its chatoyance gives the grain the effect of moving and following your gaze as you alternate your point of view.

The entire table is finished with multiple coats of a plant-based, non-toxic, low VOC, penetrating hard oil-wax finish that seals, enhances and protects the wood from the inside out. On top of that several coats of a highly protective ceramic nano-finish sealer were added to both enhance the wood's appearance and further protect it from heat, liquid and scratching.

Every detail of this truly unique collector piece was carefully considered in order to create an heirloom quality piece for the discerning buyer. See less
