Extraordinary pair of 1950s, masterfully hand painted, Scottie (Scottish) or Westie (West Highland White) Terrier Dogs,) Salt and Pepper Shakers from Japan
I'm hopeless in love with these terriers in real life. I carefully curate the most unusual, and masterfully painted pieces from around the world
My collection is not large, but rather significant, important representations of the finest examples ceramic, pottery and glass painting and glazing techniques from different eras and countries.
This pair, distinguishes itself from most commercial pieces exported to the USA post WW!!, r, as they were created by master artisans, using ancient shading and glazing techniques, as seen in japanese Mashiko pottery. Subtle, shading, and transitioning of hues from light to dark.
They retain their original corks, not often the case. They are stamped Japan for international export.
