The central scene is rendered with remarkable detail and liveliness: a mounted general on a yellow horse dominates the composition, while Nezha is shown wielding his iconic circular weapon amid a melee of soldiers. The painting exhibits confident, fluid brushwork with rich emerald greens, iron red, yellow, pink, and touches of blue.
The entire piece is covered in an intentional crackle glaze (ge-type), a deliberate aesthetic choice referencing Song dynasty antiques, popular during the late Qing period. The wide border features an intricate trellis lattice in green and yellow with alternating diamond reserves, framed by iron red castellated and scroll bands.
The unglazed foot rim with unmarked base is consistent with export and decorative production of the Guangxu period through early Republic era (c. 1880–1920). See less
