This item is an antique Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase, heavily decorated in the traditional Nishikide (brocade) style dating from the late Meiji period to the early Showa period (circa 1890–1930s)
The vase is made from high-fired earthenware (pottery, not porcelain) featuring a characteristic warm, cream-to-ivory background. The surface is covered in a fine network of intentional crackle glaze (crazing), which is a hallmark signature of traditional Satsuma pottery.
The central hand-painted scene features scholars and/or Taoist immortals dressed in elaborate, flowing ceremonial robes with the background depicts a stylized, mountainous landscape rendered with fine mineral pigments.
The collar and foot are adorned with geometric, honeycomb, and repeating circle diaper patterns. These repeating decorative bands serve as structural borders to frame the main figural narrative
