This is an exquisite vintage jacquard-woven tapestry runner titled from the "Renaissance by Woven Art New York" collection, distributed exclusively by CSI - Creations de France. The design is beautifully adapted from the legendary 15th-century medieval masterwork series "The Lady and the Unicorn" (La Dame à la licorne) permanently housed at the Musée de Cluny in Paris.
Woven from 100% heavy cotton, the composition features repeating vertical vignettes of a heraldic lion and pure white unicorn guarding a standards banner against a dense, dark forest green milles-fleurs ground. The main panel is bordered by an elegant scrolling acanthus leaf motif on a rich, crimson-red field. Lined with a structurally solid backing, this versatile length operates beautifully as an elegant dining table runner or hung vertically to accentuate narrow accent walls, entryway doors, or staircases.
Condition Notes:
Excellent vintage condition with incredibly vibrant colors and sharp, tight weave integrity. Sourced directly from an immaculate estate collection of textile connoisseurs. The reverse backing fabric is intact, clean, and securely stitched, with the original maker’s label firmly attached. No pulls, stains, fading, or odors. May show faint, historic fold lines from past storage which will naturally relax when hung or laid flat.
