A striking and sophisticated pair of late-20th-century figurative candlesticks, heavily channeling the modernist vocabulary of the mid-to-late 20th century. Strongly reminiscent of Tom Corbin’s iconic Totem series for Corbin Bronze, these elongated cast-metal figures feature abstracted forms, spherical heads, integrated candle cups, and clean disc bases.
Representing the rich tradition of African-modernist decorative arts, this matched pair features a subtle male and female pairing—the female figure beautifully differentiated by two minimal, oval breast impressions. This intentional composition elegantly echoes the classic Dogon (Mali) creation mythology of twin primordial beings, or nommo.
While many pieces from this era were produced in dark natural-patina bronze, this pair stands out in a crisp, sophisticated silver-to-pewter tone, making them an exceptional statement piece for contemporary, eclectic, or Hollywood Regency interiors.
Design & Quality Notes
Craftsmanship: High decorator-tier casting. The surface detailing is exceptionally crisp, featuring clean vertical channel lines along the elongated shafts.
Stance: Excellent structural integrity; both figures hold their tall, vertical stance perfectly without warping.
Finish: A beautiful, bright silver-tone/pewter-tone finish with a subtle, authentic age-appropriate patina that adds depth and character.
Market Note: While unsigned, the sheer weight, presence, and casting crispness align these with high-end gallery or designer showroom production from the late 20th-century American or European decorator markets.

Some surface pitting consistent with cast metal aging. Candle cups show minor wax residue. One figure displays a small cavity or hole near the mid-shaft — appears to be a casting artifact rather than damage. Overall sound and display-ready. less
