The chests display the bold yet refined forms associated with the furniture traditions of Southern Germany and Austria, where Baroque influences continued to inspire cabinetmakers well into the 19th century.

Each chest is fitted with four drawers framed by delicate line inlay and adorned with brass pulls and escutcheons. The gently bombé drawer fronts are complemented by substantial molded tops and turned bun feet, lending the pair a sculptural presence from every angle.
