A substantial vintage Chinese hardstone bonsai tree composed of individually carved stone blossoms, leaves and fruit arranged in an ornate cloisonné planter. Standing approximately 21.5 inches tall, the piece has impressive scale and a dense, hand-assembled floral composition.
The arrangement incorporates a variety of polished and translucent stones in shades of white, green, pink, orange and deep burgundy, with carved blossoms and foliage wired onto branching stems. The cloisonné planter is decorated with floral enamel work and brass-tone wire detailing.
A striking example of mid-20th-century Chinese decorative hardstone work, well suited to a console, entry table, cabinet or large bookshelf.
