Peter Løvig Nielsen was a Danish designer best known for his elegant and functional furniture designs. He was born in 1931, and his work forms part of the Danish modernist tradition that flourished in the 1950s and 1960s. We now also refer to this movement as Mid-Century Modern. One of his best-known designs is the exclusive ‘Boomerang Desk’ in teak. This spacious desk is renowned for its unique shape, which is somewhat reminiscent of a boomerang, hence the name. The design is typical of Scandinavian aesthetics, with clean lines, organic forms and a focus on craftsmanship. The piece is pre-eminently an executive desk and boasts a beautiful finish on all visible sides. The rear, with its space for books, and a cupboard behind the flap door, complete the look. Take a look at the beautiful raised edge on the desk top too – refined and stunningly beautiful. The Boomerang Desk is often praised for its slender profile and clever layout, which combines functionality with an aesthetically pleasing design. The use of teak and oak gives the piece a warm and luxurious feel, typical of exclusive Scandinavian design from that period. The work of Peter Løvig Nielsen is still appreciated by design enthusiasts around the world, and his pieces are often found in collections and exhibitions dedicated to Scandinavian design in museums worldwide. This piece is in a very fine restored condition and finished with our unique protective semi-matt coating; this top layer will protect the desk from grease, dirt and moisture. The signs of use are not unusual for a piece of furniture designed for work, and give the piece its own unique patina, though they are only very minimal. Be sure to take a look at the photo gallery to get an even better idea; following its recent restoration, this showpiece is once again ready to provide decades of enjoyment in both home and work settings.
