Peter Løvig Nielsen was a Danish designer best known for his elegant and functional furniture designs. Born in 1931, his work belongs to the Danish modernist tradition that flourished during the 1950s and 1960s, a movement now commonly referred to as Mid-Century Modern.
One of his most iconic creations is the exclusive “Boomerang Desk” in teak wood. This generous desk is renowned for its distinctive shape, somewhat reminiscent of a boomerang, from which it derives its name. The design is quintessentially Scandinavian, combining clean lines, organic forms, and a strong emphasis on craftsmanship.
This piece is the perfect example of an executive desk, beautifully finished on all visible sides. The rear section, with its space for books and a storage compartment hidden behind the drop-front door, completes the design beautifully. Take note as well of the elegant raised edge surrounding the desktop — refined and exceptionally beautiful.
The Boomerang Desk is frequently praised for its slender profile and clever layout, successfully combining functionality with aesthetically pleasing design. The use of teak and oak lends the piece a warm and luxurious appearance, characteristic of exclusive Scandinavian furniture from this period.
Peter Løvig Nielsen’s work continues to be appreciated by design enthusiasts around the world, and his furniture is regularly featured in collections and exhibitions dedicated to Scandinavian design in museums internationally.
This example is presented in beautifully restored condition and has been finished with our unique protective semi-matt coating. This top layer protects the desk from grease, dirt, and moisture. Minor signs of use, entirely consistent with a working piece of furniture, contribute to its authentic and unique patina, though they remain very minimal. Be sure to view the photo series for an even better impression — following its recent restoration, this showpiece is once again ready to provide decades of enjoyment in both living and working environments.
