The whimsical composition depicts a stylized female figure beneath a flowering tree accompanied by a bird and goat. Rendered in a distinctive naive/folk-art style, this tile features expressive black outlines and vivid glazing in green, turquoise, reds and blues. The central painted scene is surrounded by a richly textured turquoise and brown mottled glaze, giving the substantial ceramic plaque an appealing aged, almost archaeological character. The combination of folkloric imagery, saturated color and painterly surface makes this a particularly decorative example of late-20th-century Greek studio ceramics. See less
