Direct from Europe, an exceptional Portuguese rosewood library writing table featuring dramatic barley twist stretchers and bold architectural form, perfect for use as a console, center table, or statement desk.

The impressive table rests on massive baluster turned legs above an intricate full box stretcher base with hand carved barley twist supports on all sides, showcasing the craftsmanship associated with fine Portuguese rosewood furniture of the late 18th century.

A richly carved frieze includes three functioning drawers to the front, with ornate pierced brass escutcheons continued on the faux drawer facades along both sides and the reverse, an indication of the table’s high level of craftsmanship.

The richly figured rosewood top displays exceptional color and patina developed over more than two centuries of age and use. Superb Portuguese craftsmanship, circa1790.
