This highly decorative piece reflects the elegance of the late Historic Revival / Victorian period, with strong influences from Baroque Revival (Neo-Baroque) design language—visible in the dramatic acanthus scrolls, symmetrical ornamentation, and architectural crest detailing. The mirror has an unmistakably luxurious, timeless character that works beautifully in both classical and eclectic contemporary interiors. The frame appears to be cast metal construction rather than pressed sheet metal, giving the piece a notably substantial and high-quality feel, with crisp ornamental depth and excellent craftsmanship throughout. The dark aged patina with warm bronzed highlights enhances the sculptural details beautifully. The reverse bears the stamped marking “MOD-DEP”, likely referring to the French term Modèle Déposé (“registered design”), a marking commonly found on French decorative objects from the late 19th century through the early 20th century. While not a definitive maker’s mark, this strongly suggests a French or French-market origin, likely dating the piece to approximately 1890–1925. The mirror glass itself remains highly presentable. There is a small structural imperfection / minor flaw in the upper right area of the mirror plate, which is discreet in everyday presentation and does not detract from the overall visual impact of this striking decorative piece. A wonderfully atmospheric statement mirror—ideal for an entryway, powder room, dressing area, or as an elegant accent above a console or fireplace. See less
