Large walnut desk with pull-out slides and five drawers in the front. This desk was made by the potheau constantin firm in paris. It has just been fully restored, and we have replaced the leather (full-grain wheel-engraved leather).
biography
in 1881, georges and constantin potheau took over the business of charmois and lemarinier and established potheau frères at 21 rue du faubourg-saint-antoine in paris. They became famous for their complete, simple yet elegant furnishings. They were recognized at the 1889 universal exhibition in paris, where they won a silver medal for a superb carved fireplace. In 1894, only constantin continued to work. This desk offers comfortable dimensions for working. The carving of the legs and drawers is particularly refined. All the bronze handles are signed.
