This striking composition depicts a powerful samurai warrior rendered in Kuniyoshi’s iconic dramatic style, featuring detailed armor, expressive linework, and beautiful blue and black pigments characteristic of mid-19th century Edo-period printing. Warrior subjects by Kuniyoshi remain among the most sought-after categories of Japanese ukiyo-e art.
