The "Vanity Fair" leather armchair by Poltrona Frau is one of the most significant designs in Italian furniture design and remains a symbol of luxurious craftsmanship and timeless elegance. with its characteristic, softly rounded form, striking armrests, and harmonious proportions, this armchair embodies the unmistakable aesthetic of Italian design classics while making a powerful statement in any room.
The example offered here is presented in a vibrant shade of red and is in very good condition. The high-quality leather shows only minimal patina and retains the elegant look and feel typical of Poltrona Frau. Signs of age and use are only discreet: there are slight abrasions on a few areas of the leather on the back, which are barely noticeable overall. There is also a small burn hole, about the size of a pinhead, on the right side (see close-up photo). These signs of wear do not detract from the armchair's appearance or comfort; rather, they emphasize its authentic vintage patina.
The exceptional seating comfort is particularly noteworthy. The generous padding and organically shaped seat shell provide a pleasantly enveloping seating experience, making the "Vanity Fair" not only an iconic design object but also an exceptionally comfortable lounge chair.
The design is the work of Renzo (Lorenzo) Frau, the founder of Poltrona Frau. Founded in Turin in 1912, the company quickly became one of the most prestigious names in exclusive leather craftsmanship and high-quality seating. To this day, Poltrona Frau stands worldwide for the highest level of craftsmanship, the finest leathers, and Italian design tradition.
The "Vanity Fair" is based on the historic Model 904, which originated in the early 1930s and later achieved international renown under its current name. Its soft curves and sculptural design made it one of the most famous and influential armchairs of the 20th century. To this day, the Vanity Fair chair is considered an icon of Italian design and a highly sought-after collector's item for lovers of high-quality vintage furniture.
