The lithograph print poster is published by Les Musees Nationaux Alger, Salle Pierre Bordes Algiers, Algeria, Gouvernement General De L'Algerie Direction De L'Interiur Et Des Beaux-Arts. Printed in France in 1956 in an unnumbered limited edition by Mourlot Imp. Paris, on the occasion of the " Oeuvres D'Art " exhibition. It features an artwork image originally created by Galanis in 1924 titled " Basket of Fruit ".

Demetrios Galanis ( 1879 - 1966 ) was an Early Twentieth Century Greek born painter and printmaker and friend of Picasso. In the 1920's he exhibited his artworks alongside such major figures of Modern Art including Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, Juan Gris, Raoul Dufy, Marc Chagall, and Pablo Picasso. Galanis was famous in France, frequently exhibiting in Paris, Brussels, London and New York. The Neoclassical style works received enthusiastic critical response that established his reputation as a preeminent artists of the era. Galanis received greater critical acclaim abroad in his lifetime than any other Greek Modern artist of The Early 20th Century.

The French State honored him with the highest distinctions from The Ecole Des Beaux Arts in Paris and as lifelong member of The Academie Francaise. The most significant collections of Galanis's work are held in The Teloglion Foundation at The Aristotle University Thessaloniki, and The Tate Gallery London.

The venerable famous printing house of Imprimerie Mourlot Paris was founded in 1852 by The Mourlot Family. It is known worldwide for its fine art lithography printing, and one of their most important contributions was to be the art poster. Mourlot became the place where posters were prepared and produced as works of art in their own right. Mourlot became internationally known for their originality, beauty, and exquisite craftsmanship.

This fine art lithograph poster is one of the highly desirable of the collaboration and long lasting partnership between Atelier Mourlot and The National Museums, who together would create many important art posters. An example of this same poster is held in the archive collection of prestigious museums worldwide.

The rare out of print fine art lithograph print framed Art Deco Algiers exhibition poster measures 22" W X 30 1/4" H X 1" D.

It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in an architectural historical style black burnished antiqued iron finish, subtle aged ornamental raised rail relief detailed wood frame molding, with attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " very clean vintage condition consistent with age, and very light signs of handling.
