This exceptional pair of antique Chippendale-style étagère cabinets beautifully marries classic English design elements with premier American craftsmanship. A two-tier silhouette featuring an architectural upper display area with intricate, pierced fretwork sides and a magnificent pagoda-inspired openwork gallery crest. Below, the slim-profile commode bases boast richly grained flame mahogany door panels with classic molded trim and decorative brass floral rosettes at the corners, all resting on elegant bracket feet. Working keys included with new tassels.
An authentic testament to high-end heritage, the cabinet interiors retain an oval metal tag reading "Irwin"— for Robert W. Irwin Co., a manufacturer revered for luxury traditional furniture between 1919 and 1953 —while the backs feature original plaques from "Scholle's Chicago," a historic premier retailer known for curating top-tier furnishings.
Made in Grand Rapids, Michigan by Robert W. Irwin Co., circa 1920-1930, and retailed by Scholle's Chicago (Scholle Furniture Co.), a historic, premier Chicago retailer known for curating and selling exclusively top-tier luxury furnishings.
