Presented during “algae unveiled” exhibition at milan design week 2025. Inspired by the delicate movement of seaweed underwater, the nereides is handcrafted from solid brass using the lost-wax technique, where each tiny seaweed leaf is individually shaped and welded together, creating a dynamic and flowing structure. The interplay of metal and porcelain evokes the contrast between strength and fragility, permanence and ephemerality - qualities inherent in marine ecosystems and the materials. In ancient greek mythology, the nereides were graceful sea nymphs known for guiding and protecting sailors. They embodied the ocean’s dual nature - gentle and powerful, mysterious yet nurturing. This fruit bowl is envisioned as a gift from the nereides themselves - an offering from the ocean's depths to those who navigate the ever-shifting tides of life. See less
