Each vertical panel depicts traditional … Read more A fine four-panel Chinese folding screen, featuring elaborately carved hardwood frames and hand-embroidered silk panels. Each vertical panel depicts traditional Chinese mountain and water landscapes with pagodas, boats, and pavilions. The silk is hand-stitched with rich detail, showing natural age toning and fading consistent with its age.
The rosewood frame is deeply carved with floral and foliate motifs, and retains a rich dark patina. Hinged for folding, with carved apron bases.
Period: Late Qing Dynasty to Early Republic (c. 1880–1930)
Dimensions: each panel is 36”h x 11.5”w x 1”d, when fully expanded 45.5”w x 1”d x 36”h, and fully closed 4.5”d x 11.5”w x 36”h
Weight: approximately 37 lbs
Condition: Good antique condition with expected signs of age. Silk shows toning, minor fading, and light wear. Wood frame shows natural patina and small handling wear. One glass panel is in need of replacement. Hinges are intact.
