A refined Napoleon III period jewelry box from 19th century France, beautifully crafted in burl wood, rosewood, ebony and ivory with intricate inlaid detailing throughout. The rectangular form is richly decorated with ornate wood marquetry and centered by its original functioning lock and key, adding both authenticity and charm to the piece.
The interior retains its original blue silk lining, complete with tufted silk covered buttons and compartmented storage. The silk shows age appropriate wear and imperfections consistent with time, yet remains remarkably intact and contributes to the romantic character of the box. The interior depth measures approximately 2 inches, making it ideal for jewelry, treasured keepsakes, or gloves.
