Being of the Meiji period; late 19th to early 20th century; these were made during 1868-1912. The technique “Moriage” is used; a raised enamel to create a three dimentional effect on the surface. These eggs traditionally feature grand gardens, peacocks, and floral patterns. This pair though smaller; are most sought after. The size 5" high and 3.5" wide and deep. Having a matched pair is very rare, but I was very fortunate to have found these at one of my local antique stores in Boise, ID. See less
