A beautifully formed Wedgwood black basalt creamer in the neoclassical style. The ovoid body is decorated with fine vertical reeding that runs from the shoulder to the splayed foot, with a graceful scroll handle and an elegantly upswept spout. The matte black basalt body has the characteristic dense, velvety finish that Wedgwood mastered in the 18th century. Impressed WEDGWOOD mark to the base.
A versatile and striking piece — equally at home displayed on a shelf or bookcase as part of a collection of black and white ceramics, or used as a bud vase or small vessel on a bar or sideboard.
