An exceptional example of late-Victorian American art glass, this exquisite cylinder vase was produced by the prestigious C.F. Monroe Company of Meriden, Connecticut, circa 1895. Renowned for their "Opal Ware" creations, this piece beautifully captures the romanticism of the Gilded Age and serves as a premier acquisition for the discerning antique collector.
The Glass: Crafted from premium, mold-blown opaque opal glass blanks. The lower portion of the column features the highly collectible, heavily embossed Helmschmied scroll and acanthus leaf relief pattern molded directly into the glass. The Decoration: The body is meticulously hand-decorated by factory artisans, featuring delicate, soft-focused floral vignettes in muted earth tones. The artwork is masterfully elevated by raised, textured white enamel moriage dotting. The Mount: The vase rests securely in its original, extraordinarily detailed Victorian gilt metal (ormolu) four-footed base, adding regal structure and striking visual height to the silhouette Glass: Pristine antique condition. Absolutely free of chips, cracks, hairlines, or restorations.Decoration: Excellent. The hand-painted enameling remains crisp, vibrant, and incredibly well-preserved with negligible surface wear.Metalwork: The ornate gilt-brass footed mount retains its structural integrity and displays a gorgeous, authentic deep-honey aged patina.SpecificationsMaker: C.F.
