An extraordinary hand-carved ceremonial armchair exhibiting the rich decorative traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East during the late Ottoman and Colonial periods.
Constructed of solid hardwood with an exceptional level of hand-carved detail, the chair features deeply carved floral arabesques, pierced latticework, birds, figural motifs, and an inset woven textile medallion framed within the backrest.
The crest displays a seated figure surrounded by peacocks and scrolling foliage, while additional carved figures and animals appear throughout the frame, reflecting the symbolism and craftsmanship associated with Syrian and Moorish decorative arts.
