These crocks are traditionally found near Lyon, France's second largest city and were used to preserve eggs. This one is unusual both for its small size and its ovoid shape. The crocks are typically twice this size and with straight sides to allow more storage volume. It is in very good as found condition with the minor chips and glaze loss typical to French pottery (see photo). See less
