About Scarab Jewelry:
The scarab beetle gained prominence in ancient Egypt as a symbol of eternal life, protection, vitality, and fertility. Their likeness has been found in jewelry since antiquity. Scarabs have been used in various forms. Actual beetles were incorporated into jewelry during the Victorian era, for instance.
Scarabs are identified by the shape of the insect or stone used in jewelry manufacture. Genuine scarab beetles used in jewelry usually have a green sheen to them. Oval scarab stones have been molded and carved from many different types of substances, including glass, ceramics, plastic, and natural gemstones.
Scarabs found in finished jewelry usually do not have a mark of any kind to indicate their origin. However, the metal in which they are set may be marked to indicate the maker of the piece of jewelry. Both costume jewelry companies and fine jewelers have used scarabs in their designs.
About Winard:
The Winard Jewelry Company was an American jewelry maker active in two main periods: roughly 1946 to 1958, and then again from 1964 to 2005, known for high-quality gold-filled jewelry often featuring pearls, jade, or coral. The brand specialized in creating exquisite, often limited-edition pieces sold in boutiques, using materials like 10, 12, and 14K gold-filled metals.
