Pair of armchairs with armrests, designed by pier luigi colli. Italy, 1950s
origin italy
period 1950s
designer pier luigi colli (1895–1968) attended courses at the école des arts décoratifs in paris and imported lalique glassware and art deco lamps by jean perzel to turin. The firm was responsible for fitting out the royal train, designed and produced the seating for the main hall of the university of turin, and furnished the turin headquarters of the bank of italy and the prefecture. In addition to furniture, the firm produced embroidery for upholstery and curtains, carpets, lamps with seguso glass, window frames and door handles. The firm also produced works designed by external architects: gio ponti (partition walls and window and door frames for the turin headquarters of vembi), giovanni gariboldi (furnishings for the richard ginori showroom in rome), carlo mollino (handrails for the rai auditorium and window and door frames for the teatro regio), domenico morelli (furnishings for the rai skyscraper); gabetti and isola (neo-liberty furnishings for the stock exchange); aldo morbelli (furnishings for the fasano jewellery shop in via roma, turin). Upon the death of pier luigi colli, he was succeeded by his daughter claudia, who continued the business with high-quality mass production until its closure in the 1980s. Source: wikipedia.
