Elegant and refined, this early 20th-century writing desk perfectly illustrates the revival of curved forms and precious decorations inspired by the Louis XV style.
The delicately inlaid mahogany top features a refined geometric design, typical of the high-quality pieces produced during the Belle Époque, a period when cabinetmakers, nostalgic for progress and peace, returned to the grand French styles of the pre-war era.
The front opens with a drawer highlighted by a substantial, finely chiseled gilt-bronze keyhole escutcheon.
The handles, also in gilt bronze, complete the piece with understated elegance.
Resting on four cabriole legs, the writing desk embodies the supple and harmonious curves characteristic of the Louis XV style.
Each leg is adorned with a gilt-bronze finial, ending in a charming sabot that protects and enhances the base of the piece. The piece demonstrates masterful cabinetmaking, where the quality of the materials is combined with precise execution.
with its well-balanced dimensions, this highly decorative piece can serve equally well as a small desk, a coffee table, or even an elegant and functional console table in an entryway or bedroom.
