An abstract intaglio print, titled "Portrait of a Young Man," by Chilean-American artist Sergio Gonzalez Tornero (1927-2020). This piece features the abstracted side-profile silhouette of a man in yellow, green and orange. Abstract patterns cover the silhouette, against a light blue backdrop. Held in a black frame against a white mat, this piece is signed, dated, titled and numbered 36/150 to the lower edge.
Sergio Gonzalez Tornero was born in Santiago, Chile in 1927 to diplomats and is most well known for his printmaking. He studied art in Chile, Brazil, the United States and England. After meeting his wife, Adrienne Cullom, also a printmaker, while living in Paris, they relocated to New York City in the 1960s. His work has been exhibited in galleries across the United States, in Europe and in South America.
