The elegant decoration includes traditional literati motifs such as scrolls, incense implements, vessels, floral arrangements, gaming boards, and scholarly treasures arranged in a refined floating composition associated with wisdom, cultivation, and scholarly life.

The jar has a beautifully proportioned baluster / melon-form body with a richly patinated hardwood lid and turned finial. The porcelain surface displays attractive kiln speckling, glaze variation, and hand-painted cobalt tonal shifts characteristic of late Qing dynasty porcelain.

Interior firing marks, natural foot rim wear, and age-consistent glaze irregularities further support the piece’s authenticity and antique character. Accompanied by an older Hong Kong Certificate of Antiquity identifying the jar as a Qing Dynasty blue-and-white “Tall Melon Jar with Stationery Design.”

Likely dating to the late Qing dynasty, circa 1870–1900.
