This vintage hand-painted Chinoiserie porcelain lamp beautifully balances timeless decorative artistry with a fresh, modern sensibility. The soft blush pink porcelain body is richly decorated with graceful bamboo, vibrant butterflies, and delicate botanical motifs, creating a lively composition inspired by traditional Asian design. A substantial Lucite base and coordinating Lucite accents beneath the socket cluster give the lamp an unexpected architectural quality that feels both sophisticated and current.
What drew me to this lamp was the silky, almost translucent quality of the soft blush pink glaze. It has a beautiful depth that allows the vibrant butterflies and graceful bamboo to really come alive, giving the hand-painted decoration a fresh, modern palette rather than a traditional feel. The Lucite details add a crisp architectural element that makes the entire piece feel unexpectedly current and unlike the typical Chinoiserie porcelain lamp.
This is an impressively scaled lamp with wonderful presence. Standing 42 inches to the top of the finial, it is noticeably larger than the average porcelain table lamp and substantial in both weight and construction. Whether displayed on a console, entry table, oversized nightstand, or living room side table, it serves as both functional lighting and a sculptural focal point. The dual sockets each operate independently using their own pull chain, while an on/off switch conveniently located on the cord provides an additional control option.
