Figural art pottery salt & pepper shakers shaped like two women with top knot hairstyles and medallion necklaces which appear to be the work of Alfaraz Pottery of Spain. Alfaraz Pottery was founded in 1952 by artist, Miguel Duran-Loriga who was well known in Spain for his decorative pottery and architectural tile murals. These ‘salt & peppa’ ladies bear the typical Alfaraz design details including a speckled surface, Picasso style stylized faces and applied hairstyles. Outfitted with holes at the top for dispensing your spice and corks at the base for keeping everything intact. No apparent maker’s mark. I love an artistic touch to everyday household items!
Good vintage condition. No cracks, breaks, chips or repairs. There are some unglazed spots here and there consistent with the hand made nature of the pottery.
The salt & pepper vary slightly in size but for the most part they each measure 5.5” tall x 2.25” wide x 2.25” deep.
