A substantial pair of polished brass nautilus shell cachepots produced by Sarreid, Spain, circa 1970s. Each is cast in the form of a stylized nautilus with pronounced spiral relief, open vessel form, and faceted base, combining sculptural presence with functional utility. The polished brass surface and darkened interior are characteristic of Sarreid’s decorative metalwork of the period.

These pieces reflect the strong market for organic modern decorative objects in the 1970s, when Sarreid produced sculptural accessories for the American interiors market, drawing on natural forms and high-gloss finishes.
