Everything is original on this bed from the cannonball finials to the decorative woodwork along the top of the headboard. The bed does include two wooden side rails and bolts to secure the rails into the head and footboard. One unique feature of the bed is the original pegs still intact that were used to secure the rope that was used as the base or in today’s terms, the boxspring for the mattress. Of course when this bed was originally being used it was most likely a horsehair stuffed homemade mattress! Slats can now be used in place of the rope to hold your mattress or mattress & boxspring. This bed is a true slice of history updated with a fresh coat of sea foam green paint for a unique addition to any bedroom in your home, beach house or vacation getaway. See less
