The medal is double-sided:
- Obverse: large "20" with rays, Kazakh inscription «ҚАЗАҚСТАН РЕСПУБЛИКАСЫНЫҢ ҚАРЛЫ ҚҰШТЕРІ» (Special Forces / Security Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan) and «20 жыл».
- Reverse: prominent red star with sunburst, dates «1992-2012» and additional Kazakh text.

Comes with the original full-size ribbon (blue-green with red-yellow stripes) and functional pin-back. Heavy brass/bronze construction with golden tone.

This departmental anniversary medal was produced in very limited quantity for internal awards and is believed to be one of very few (possibly unique) examples available in private hands worldwide. A true museum-quality piece of modern Kazakh military and state history. No other examples have been seen on the international market.

Perfect addition for collectors of post-Soviet states awards, Central Asian militaria, and rare commemorative medals.
