Amazing vintage Pheasant Bird Lidded Compote by Aldo Londi for Bitossi.
From the Mid-Century Seta series of Bitossi pottery. Architectural lines with intricate geometric patterns and sgraffito throughout. Incredible hand painted design of black, mustard, grey and mauve resulting in a rich base overlaid with and featuring bronze gold leaf accent highlights.
Two substantial pieces. The top in a charming pheasant form, with the head slightly turned. The large bottom bowl with tailfeathers. Deep purple glossy interiors. A rare and rich color combination.
Marked on verso. At some point, felt was applied for protection on bottom of bowl as shown.
Measuring 8”w x 6”d x 8”h.
Excellent vintage condition.
