Crafted in France circa 1780, the textile artwork depicts a romantic pastoral scene of a seated shepherdess accompanied by a lamb, set within a floral garland cartouche. The composition is richly detailed with soft, muted tones and delicate shading, characteristic of 18th century Aubusson weaving, and framed by a colorful border of blooming flowers and foliage.
The tapestry is presented behind protective glass and set in a carved giltwood frame embellished with repeating floral and geometric motifs, adding depth and refinement to the overall presentation. The back reveals the original textile mounted to a later support, preserving the integrity of the piece while making it ready for wall display.
