This exceptional object represents the finest level of traditional metal craftsmanship and combines elegant functionality with timeless architectural design. The body was meticulously hand-hammered and hand-raised from solid brass, revealing a wonderfully organic surface texture with rich depth and character. Every detail reflects the quality standards of high-end Viennese or Austrian workshop production from the early Art Deco period. The construction is remarkably sophisticated, with most components being mechanically screwed rather than simply soldered — a sign of superior craftsmanship and careful engineering. One of the most distinctive features is the integrated cigarette cutter, elegantly incorporated into the sculptural upper section. Originally intended for trimming hand-rolled cigarettes, it transforms this object from a simple ashtray into a highly functional luxury smoking accessory. The design feels both ceremonial and modern at the same time — a rare balance only found in the finest Art Deco objects. The interior retains its original removable mouth-blown glass insert, perfectly fitted into the brass frame. The contrast between the warm patinated brass and the softly translucent glass creates a luxurious visual depth and elevates the overall appearance considerably. Standing on beautifully modeled feet with almost architectural proportions, the piece possesses a strong presence despite its practical function. The silhouette is timeless and versatile, making it equally suitable for a sophisticated modern interior, a classic gentleman’s smoking room, a Hollywood Regency setting, or an eclectic collector’s space. An authentic statement piece with museum-like quality and remarkable decorative impact. The underside still bears the original workshop or artist’s mark / punch. A rare collector’s object and one of the finest handcrafted Art Deco smoking accessories currently available on the market. See less
